After ten years the Community Wind South project in Nobles County, Minnesota is now up. It is the first wind project in Minnesota where the turbines are on 100-meter towers.
Windustry's work to assist in starting up community wind projects in Montana, Wisconsin and West Virginia will continue well into 2013, thanks to an extension of the grant funding this work approved by the USDA.
The Sand Creek Winds project in northeastern Montana is farthest along, as this group of landowners cooperates very well internally, and the wind resource is very good. Their business has hired a staff person, and has also successfully applied for a queue position with WAPA, the regional transmission organization.
Minneapolis, September 6, 2012—The 2012 Minnesota State Fair was a tremendous success, attracting nearly 1.8 million visitors from all over the country. An estimated 260,000 fairgoers toured the Eco Experience exhibition, many of whom stopped into the Wind Energy Center. Our guests came with many questions about wind energy and our team of knowledgeable volunteers was ready with answers.
MINNEAPOLIS, JUNE 29, 2012 – Three Germans touring Minnesota as part of a three-week professional exchange program came to Windustry on Friday, June 29, 2012, in order to discuss Windustry’s efforts to involve individuals and communities in expanding Minnesota’s wind energy production.
ATLANTA, JUNE 7, 2012- Windustry was honored at the 11th Annual All-States Summit at the Georgia Tech Research Institute Conference Center in Atlanta on June 7, 2012, receiving Wind Powering America's Midwestern Regional Wind Leadership Award.
